BPS Seeks Three BCTXPs to Serve on 2023 Solid Organ Transplantation Pharmacy Specialty Council

BPS Seeks Three BCTXPs to Serve on 2023 Solid Organ Transplantation Pharmacy Specialty Council

Washington, D.C. – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) opens applications for board-certified transplant pharmacists (BCTXP) to serve on the BPS Solid Organ Transplantation Pharmacy Specialty Council. The application window closes Monday, August 22, 2022. Applications can be submitted here.

As a new specialty area, the BPS Solid Organ Transplantation Pharmacy Specialty Council will undergo a transition period during which pharmacists who do not hold the BPS Board-Certified Transplant Pharmacist (BCTXP) credential will rotate off the council and newly certified BCTXPs will replace them.

BPS Specialty Councils are responsible for:

  • Developing standards and eligibility requirements for board certification in the specialty area for approval by the BPS Board of Directors;
  • Developing examination material and setting the passing standard for initial and continuing certification of pharmacist specialists; and
  • Reviewing and approving professional development programs for the recertification of pharmacist specialists.

Each BPS Specialty Council is comprised of nine members. Seven members of each council are pharmacists holding BPS Board Certification in the respective pharmacy specialty. Two members of each council are pharmacists who do not hold board certification in the specialty area for which the council is responsible.

Application Deadline and Details

BPS must receive all the following items NO LATER THAN Monday, August 22, 2022:

  • Completed and signed application form
  • Completed Statement of Interest (300 words or less) responding to the prompt: “Why are you interested in serving as a member of the BPS Specialty Council?”
  • Current resumé or curriculum vitae

Desired Qualifications

BPS carefully considers the individual applicant’s expertise, experience, and professional setting to maintain an appropriate representation for the specialty area when making appointments to the specialty council. As such, the needs of each council are different and will vary from appointment cycle to appointment cycle.

Prior to submitting an application, pharmacists should carefully review and consider the qualifications, position duties, responsibilities, and required time commitments outlined in the Call for Applications Information Booklet for Specialist Members, the BPS Conflict of Interest policy, and the Commitment to Serve.
