Continuous Testing 2023 BPS Certification and Recertification Examination Results
Washington, D.C. – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), the premier post-licensure certification organization serving the pharmacy profession, announces the results of the 2023 certification and recertification examinations administered via continuous testing.
A total of 260 out of 460 examinees were successful in the board-certified cardiology pharmacist (BCCP), board-certified nuclear pharmacist (BCNP), board-certified oncology pharmacist (BCOP), and board-certified psychiatric pharmacist (BCPP) certification examinations and recertification examinations offered in the continuous testing modality in 2023.
“We extend a warm welcome to the BPS certification examinees joining the community of over 60,800 active board certifications. Continuous testing will expand to additional specialties in 2024, and we look forward to the flexibility continuous testing will offer our examinees in the coming years,” said BPS Executive Director, William M. Ellis, MS, RPh, ICE-CCP.
Continuous testing debuted with BCCP, BCNP, and BCPP in January 2023 and BCOP in August 2023, offering examinees the opportunity to register and sit for a certification or recertification examination throughout the year. Specialties that have not yet transitioned to the continuously available model were administered in two exam administration windows in 2023, with results announced in August 2023 and December of 2023.
Recertification examinations were not offered for BCCP, as the initial cohort of certificants have not yet reached year 7 in their certification cycle. BCCP recertification examinations will begin in 2025. No BCNP chose to recertify by examination in 2023.
The results for each examination program are provided below and are organized by the breakdown of total exam candidates (inclusive of first-time and repeat attempts) followed by first-time attempt candidates.
