Washington D.C. – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), the premier post-licensure certification organization serving the pharmacy profession, announces the results of the 2024 certification and recertification examinations administered via continuous testing.
In 2024, a total of 1,854 out of 3,058 examinees were successful in achieving a passing score on a certification or recertification examination offered in the continuous testing modality in the following specialties: board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist (BCACP), board-certified cardiology pharmacist (BCCP), board-certified critical care pharmacist (BCCCP), board-certified geriatric pharmacist (BCGP), board-certified infectious diseases pharmacist (BCIDP), board-certified nuclear pharmacist (BCNP), board-certified nutrition support pharmacist (BCNSP), board-certified oncology pharmacist (BCOP), board-certified pediatric pharmacy specialist (BCPPS), board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist (BCPS), board-certified psychiatric pharmacist (BCPP), and board-certified sterile compounding pharmacist (BCSCP).
“We are excited to welcome the pharmacists who achieved board certification in 2024 as they join a community of more than 62,250 active certifications. Continuous testing is now offered in a majority of BPS Certification Programs, and we will continue to expand upon this testing modality over the next few years,” said Brian Lawson, PharmD, ICE-CCP, BPS Interim Executive Director.
BPS debuted the continuous testing modality in 2023, offering examinees the opportunity to register and sit for a certification or recertification examination throughout the year. Specialties that have not yet transitioned to the continuous testing modality were administered in two exam administration windows in 2024, with results announced in June 2024 and December 2024.
Recertification examinations were not offered in the following specialties, as the initial cohort of certificants had not yet reached year 7 in their certification cycle: cardiology pharmacy (BCCP), compounded sterile preparations pharmacy (BCSCP), and infectious diseases pharmacy (BCIDP). Recertification examinations will begin in 2025 for BCCP and BCIDP, and 2026 for BCSCP.
The results for each examination program are provided below and are organized by the breakdown of total exam candidates (inclusive of first-time and repeat attempts) followed by first-time attempt candidates.

Board certification is a recognized credential for determining which pharmacists are qualified to contribute at advanced practice levels given the rigorous standards mandated by BPS board certification and recertification.
