Washington D.C. – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), has approved recommendations from the Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy (BCSCP) Specialty Council to revise the eligibility criteria for the BCSCP certification examination. The revised eligibility criteria will go into effect August 1, 2025.
Eligibility criteria for board certification in Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy will be updated to the following:
- Graduation from a pharmacy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or a program outside the U.S. that qualifies the individual to practice in the jurisdiction.
- A current, active license/registration to practice pharmacy in the U.S. or another jurisdiction.
- One of the following within the past 7 years:
- At least 4 years of specialty area practice with at least 50% of time spent in the scope defined by the exam content outline
- Completion of PGY1 residency and at least 3 years of specialty area practice experience with at least 50% of time spent in the scope defined by the exam content outline
