CPE Reporting
Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) is reported in real-time by BPS-approved professional development program providers. Providers are your best resource for timely reporting of activities. If there is a delay in the reporting of activities, review the following best practices.
Best practices for successful real-time reporting:
To successfully receive CPE in your MyBPS profile from the provider’s LMS, your credential number and BPS ID must be correct. The difference between the two is as follows:
- BPS ID: starts with IND- and all board-certified pharmacists have one BPS ID regardless of the number of specialty certifications held.
- Credential number: different than the BPS ID. BPS assigns a unique credential number to each specialty certification held by a pharmacist. If a board-certified pharmacist holds more than one BPS certification, they will have more than one credential number.
To locate the BPS ID and credential number, log into your MyBPS profile. The BPS ID is found in the upper right corner of the profile section above your cell phone and email address. The credential number is listed in the left corner of the certification information section under “Credential #.”

In November 2023, the BPS Board of Directors voted to eliminate the review/recertification course policy that stipulated the review/ recertification course may (“must” for BCOP) be completed for recertification credit up to two times (“three times” for BCOP), in nonconsecutive years, during the seven-year certification cycle. The elimination of this policy is effective January 1, 2024 and applies to all specialties (BPS recognizes some providers/specialties did not previously have a review/ recertification course). Removal of this policy will allow board-certified pharmacists to complete a review/ recertification course any number of times during their recertification cycle.
ACPE P.L.A.N.® Search
The Pharmacy Learning Assistance Network (P.L.A.N.®) is a continuing pharmacy education information service provided to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
Instructions for board-certified pharmacists:
- Access the ACPE P.L.A.N.® Search: https://plan.acpe-accredit.org/?clearSearchParams=true
- Scroll down to item 12 “If you require an activity designed to meet a re-certification requirement, select a certification from the list” and select the applicable BPS certification program.
- Click “Submit.”
- A list will be generated of available activities approved for BPS recertification.
- Click on a UAN to view details. Contact the CPE provider to learn more about availability and purchasing.
The results include CPE activities voluntarily submitted by ACPE-accredited providers to be in the search engine. The information that is listed for any activity is the most current information received by ACPE from the ACPE-accredited provider. For further information related to the CPE activities, please contact the ACPE-accredited provider.
If you receive the error message, “No records found, please adjust filter,” the BPS-approved professional development program provider in your specialty area may not be using the ACPE P.L.A.N.® Search at this time. Please visit the provider’s website in the applicable specialty area linked above for up-to-date information.
Ambulatory Care Pharmacy
