Washington, D.C. – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) announces applications for the 2025-2027 BPS Research Seed Grants are open and any U.S.-based pharmacist or investigator interested in conducting research related to the impact of BPS Board Certification is encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted through Friday, August 15, 2025, with recipients announced in late 2025.
“The BPS Research Seed Grant funding is a way for BPS to support researchers investigating the impact of pharmacist board certification. We look forward to continuing our support of research into board certification through this year’s grants,” said Ellie LaNou, PharmD, BCPS, BPS Director of Professional Affairs.

Two funding opportunities of up to $5,000 each are available for research projects highlighting the impact of pharmacist board certification on:
- Patient outcomes (e.g., adherence, patient-reported outcomes, surrogate outcomes);
- Healthcare systems (e.g., medication safety, drug-related problems, admissions/readmissions, emergency department visits, institutional credentialing and privileging);
- Interprofessional collaboration (e.g., recognition, perception, increased efficiency in providing care); and/or,
- Pharmacist employment, professional development, and/or wellbeing (e.g., job satisfaction, retention, career advancement).
Preference may be given to proposals that evaluate the impact of board certification on patient-reported outcomes, surrogate outcomes, and patient safety.
Any U.S.-based pharmacist or investigator is eligible to submit an application. Pharmacists or investigators outside of the U.S. are eligible for grant funding through the BPS/FIP Foundation grant, which closed May 1, 2025. Applications are accepted annually from March through April.

The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) was established in 1976 as an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). The mission of BPS is to improve patient care by positioning BPS Board-Certified Pharmacist Specialists as integral members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams, through recognition and promotion of specialized training, knowledge, and skills for pharmacists in the United States and internationally.
