Washington, D.C. – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) is pleased to announce the 2026 BPS Board of Directors officers and newly appointed members. BPS welcomes Anita Siu as the 2026 BPS Chair and Brian Erstad as the 2026 BPS Chair Elect. BPS also welcomes Melissa Badowski, Sharon See, and Steven L. West to the BPS Board of Directors for their term beginning January 1, 2026.

The BPS Board of Directors is essential in ensuring board certification remains responsive to the needs of pharmacists, employers, and patients. We are pleased to welcome Melissa, Sharon, and Steven to the Board and look forward to their perspectives and leadership alongside Anita and Brian.” said Brian E. The BPS Board of Directors is composed of 12 voting members, including nine pharmacists and three public members, who serve up to two three-year terms. The BPS Executive Director and one member of the APhA Board of Trustees are nonvoting ex officio Board members.
Board of Directors Officers
Anita Siu, PharmD, BCPPS to Serve as the 2026 BPS Chair
Dr. Siu is a Clinical Professor, the Vice Chair for Teaching and Learning, and Director of Faculty Mentoring at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She is a Pediatric Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator and practices at the K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital and Jersey Shore University Medical Center, a part of the Hackensack Meridian Health System (HMH), and serves as a liaison between the Department of Pharmacy and Pediatrics. Currently, she leads the HMH Pediatric Specialty Pharmacotherapy Council network initiatives. Dr. Siu earned her Bachelor’s and Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and completed two years of Pharmacy residency training, General Pediatrics and Neonatal/Pediatric Critical Care.
She was the first pharmacist inducted as a member of the Stuart D. Cook, M.D. Master Educators’ Guild at Rutgers University and elected as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Rutgers Biomedical Health Science Faculty Council. Dr. Siu has also served two terms as Chair of the BPS Pediatric Pharmacy Specialty Council. In 2023, Dr. Siu was elected to the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (SOCPT) Executive Committee as the Pediatric Pharmacy Association liaison.
Brian L. Erstad PharmD, BCPS, MCCM, FCCP, FASHP to Serve as the 2026 BPS Chair Elect
Dr. Erstad is currently Interim Dean and a tenured Professor at the University of Arizona R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. He is also a Center Investigator for the Center for Health Outcomes and Pharmacoeconomics Research, a co-director for the Arizona Clinical and Translational Research Graduate Certificate Program, and a member of the BIO5 Institute and Comprehensive Center for Pain & Addiction. He was a member of the FDA’s Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee from 2011 to 2015 with subsequent service as an ad hoc committee member. Dr. Erstad has been the program director for 25 critical care residents and fellows at the University of Arizona Health Sciences center. Dr. Erstad’s teaching and research interests pertain to critical care medicine with an emphasis on patient safety and related outcomes’ research – he has authored more than 350 peer-reviewed articles, monographs, and book chapters.
Additionally, he is sole editor of the text Critical Care Pharmacotherapy and co-editor of the text Basic Skills in Interpreting Laboratory Data. Dr. Erstad is a Past President of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and was on the Board of Directors of ASHP. Dr. Erstad has served on 3 councils for BPS and was a past recipient of the Warren E. Weaver/Richard P Penna Award. Dr. Erstad has served on numerous committees and task forces for other organizations including Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, USP, Society of Critical Care Medicine, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Surgeons, and American Thoracic Society. In 2025, Dr. Erstad received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

Pharmacist Member
Melissa Badowski, PharmD, MPH, BCPS, BCIDP, AAHIVP, FCCP, FIDSA to Serve as Board Member Beginning January 1, 2026
Dr. Badowski is a Clinical Pharmacist, Clinical Professor, and Associate Director of Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Services at the University of Illinois Chicago, Retzky College of Pharmacy. Her work centers on the treatment and prevention of HIV, with a strong commitment to improving care for underserved populations.
She currently practices with the Illinois Department of Corrections, where she provides HIV care through telemedicine to individuals in custody. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Badowski is actively involved in research and education focused on HIV treatment and prevention, as well as the expanding role of telemedicine in patient care. She also serves on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents with HIV.
Dr. Badowski earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. She completed her PGY-1 residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, followed by a PGY-2 pharmacotherapy residency at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore. She later earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health.
Sharon See, PharmD, BCPS, BCGP, FCCP to Serve as Board Member Beginning January 1, 2026
Dr. See, is a Clinical Professor and Associate Dean for Professional Development at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Dr. See received her BS and Pharm.D. from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy and completed an inpatient Family Medicine Pharmacy specialty residency at Deaconess Hospital and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in St. Louis, MO. She previously served as a clinical faculty member in the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics & Palliative Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital and the Mount Sinai Downtown Residency in Urban Family Medicine in New York City.
Dr. See is board-certified in pharmacotherapy and geriatrics, a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and is a graduate of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Academic Leadership Fellows program. She has served on the ACCP Board of Regents (2020-2023) and two terms on the Board of Pharmacy Specialties Pharmacotherapy Specialty Council (2013-2018).
Public Member
Steven L. West, Ph.D., CRC, to Serve as Board Member Beginning January 1, 2026
Dr. West is a Professor at the University of Memphis. He is a Rehabilitation Counselor specializing in addictions issues among people with disabilities. His clinical and research work has largely been with individuals with traumatically acquired disabilities and subsequent addictions and psychiatric comorbidities. He has conducted extensive research on the role environmental and attitudinal barriers have on the ability of individuals with disabilities to both access and acquire quality addiction care in a variety of contexts in the U.S. and abroad. He has received multiple federal grants for his work including funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). He previously served on and was president of the Board of the Commission for Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
He recently completed two terms on the nccPA Health Foundation Board of Directors where he also served as Treasurer. The nccPA Health Foundation equips and empowers Board Certified PAs to improve health through grant programs and initiatives that foster the quality and accessibility of health care. He is former chair of the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research at the University of Memphis, and Associate Director of the Center for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering and Associate Professor with Tenure in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Tennessee, a master’s from Austin Peay State University, and Ph.D. from Texas Tech University

The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) was established in 1976 as an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). The mission of BPS is to improve patient care by positioning BPS Board-Certified Pharmacist Specialists as integral members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams, through recognition and promotion of specialized training, knowledge, and skills for pharmacists in the United States and internationally. Board certification is a recognized credential for determining which pharmacists are qualified to contribute at advanced practice levels given the rigorous standards mandated by BPS board certification and recertification. As of the end of 2024, BPS recognized more than 62,250 pharmacist certifications across 15 specialties.
