Washington, D.C. – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) announces Emily Weyenberg as 2025-2026 Executive Fellow, as part of the APhA Executive Postgraduate Training Cohort.
“We are excited to welcome Emily to BPS and APhA for her executive fellowship. Her year-long fellowship will include experiences in credentialing and association management,” said Brian Lawson, PharmD, ICE-CCP, BPS Executive Director.
Emily Weyenberg, PharmD, earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in Iowa City, IA. Prior to the University of Iowa, Weyenberg completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology.
Throughout pharmacy school, Weyenberg was actively involved in the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), serving as a Region 5 Midyear Regional Meeting Coordinator, and most recently, as Chair of the APhA-ASP Communications National Standing Committee. In addition to APhA involvement, she contributed to several other organizations, including the University of Iowa Admissions Committee and Honor Council, the Iowa Pharmacy Association, the University of Iowa Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society, the University of Iowa Pharmacy Student Ambassador Network, and the University of Iowa Healthcare Business Leadership program.
Joining BPS as the 2025-2026 BPS Executive Fellow in July 2025, Weyenberg will gain experience in association management through her work with APhA and learn the purpose, impact, and value of pharmacist board certification while collaborating with volunteer leaders within the U.S. and around the globe.
About the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) was established in 1976 as an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). The mission of BPS is to improve patient care by positioning BPS Board-Certified Pharmacist Specialists as integral members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams, through recognition and promotion of specialized training, knowledge, and skills for pharmacists in the United States and internationally. Board certification is a recognized credential for determining which pharmacists are qualified to contribute at advanced practice levels given the rigorous standards mandated by BPS board certification and recertification. As of the end of 2024, BPS recognized more than 62,250 pharmacist certifications across 15 specialties.
