Washington, D.C. – The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) and the FIP Foundation for Education and Research announce the recipient of the 2024 FIP Foundation/BPS Research Grant as Dr. Diana Malaeb. The research grant program seeks to promote research in the field of pharmacist certification and its impact on specialization and advanced practice.
The inaugural research grant of up to €5,000 has been awarded to Dr. Diana Malaeb, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University, UAE. Her successful project is titled “Evaluating Pharmacist Certification in the Middle East: Triangulated Perspectives and Experiences among Healthcare Providers, Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Students on pharmacist roles as interprofessional collaborator, communicator and educator”.
“BPS is proud to partner with the FIP Foundation for Education and Research to expand our support of research into pharmacist certification through this grant for investigators outside of the U.S. We look forward to hearing more about Dr. Malaeb’s research as it progresses,” said Gary C. This project captures core objectives of the FIP Foundation/BPS Research Grant. It focuses on evaluating pharmacists’ motivations and obstacles in pursuing certification while also assessing their self-evaluation. Additionally, it emphasizes the impact of certification on interprofessional collaboration within healthcare systems, aligning well with the grant application’s outcomes related to medication safety, cost avoidance, interprofessional collaboration, and healthcare efficiency.
