Washington D.C. – The FIP Foundation for Education and Research (FIP Foundation) and the Board of Pharmacy Specialties® (BPS) announce that applications for the BPS-sponsored research grant opportunity for non-U.S.-based investigators researching the impact of pharmacist board certification are now open. BPS will sponsor one research grant of up to €5000 Euro through the FIP Foundation allowing non-US based investigators and pharmacists to seek financial support for research projects focused on the impact of pharmacist board certification on specialization and advanced practice through the following research areas:
- The impact of pharmacist board certification on patients and/or outcomes (e.g., adherence, quality of life, patient satisfaction, health literacy);
- The impact of pharmacist board certification on healthcare systems (e.g., medication safety, cost avoidance, drug-related problems, admissions/readmissions, emergency department visits, institutional credentialing and privileging);
- The impact of pharmacist board certification on Interprofessional collaboration (e.g., recognition, perception, increased efficiency in providing care); and/or,
- The impact of pharmacist board certification on pharmacist employment, professional development, and/or wellbeing (e.g., job satisfaction, retention, career advancement).
The successful applicant will be acknowledged and recognized on the Foundation’s website and newsletter and is expected to share a report of grant project results on the Foundation’s website and in Foundation communications. At the end of the research project, the awardee will prepare a final project report in a format suitable for publication in the International Pharmacy Journal. The recipient is also expected to attend the FIP World Congress to present their funded research. Please read the Packet Info & Instructions for more details.

About the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) was established in 1976 as an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). The mission of BPS is to improve patient care by positioning BPS Board-Certified Pharmacist Specialists as integral members of interprofessional healthcare teams, through recognition and promotion of specialized training, knowledge, and skills for pharmacists in the United States and internationally. Board certification is a recognized credential for determining which pharmacists are qualified to contribute at advanced practice levels given the rigorous standards mandated by BPS board certification and recertification. As of the end of 2025, BPS recognized more than 63,400 pharmacist certifications across 16 specialties.
